Layla and Amin’s Persian-Muslim wedding at Le Belvedere in Wakefield, Quebec was a breathtaking celebration of culture, love, and resilience—yes, even with a tornado warning just before the ceremony! Despite the wild weather, their wedding day was filled with meaningful traditions, vibrant music, emotional moments, and stunning views.
As their photo and video team, we felt truly honoured to capture such a beautifully personal day at one of Quebec’s most scenic venues.
Getting Ready at Le Belvedere’s Cliffside Venue
Le Belvedere is known for its incredible cliffside views and luxurious on-site amenities, making it a dream venue for weddings in Wakefield. Layla got ready in their gorgeous bridal suite, while Amin prepared with his crew nearby. The weather may have been chaotic, but the energy was pure excitement from the start.
A First Look Surrounded by Friends & Family
Before their ceremony, Layla and Amin shared a joyful first look surrounded by cheering friends and family. It was a high-energy, love-filled moment that brought everyone together and set the tone for the rest of the day.
A Persian-Muslim Wedding Ceremony with Deep Cultural Meaning
Their Muslim wedding ceremony was rich with tradition. Family members walked down the aisle carrying symbolic items for the sofreh aghd—a ceremonial spread used in Persian weddings. It was heartfelt, symbolic, and deeply moving.
Layla walked down the aisle just minutes after the tornado warning cleared (yes, really!), proving that love > weather, every time.
Post-Ceremony Celebrations: Drums, Saxophone & Sword Dancing
Right after the ceremony, guests were treated to live music by Entropy Entertainment, featuring drummers and a saxophonist. Layla and Amin joined in with a sword dance, a vibrant and energetic Persian tradition that brought everyone to their feet before heading inside for the reception.
Reception at Le Belvedere: Sunset Colors & Cultural Details
The reception space, beautifully styled by Plan It Bling It, was filled with warm tones inspired by the sunset—perfect for a rainy day. Layla and Amin both changed into Western-style wedding attire for the evening: Layla in a stunning white gown and Amin in a sharp tuxedo.
The dance floor came alive even before dinner was served. One of our favorite personal touches? Each guest received a recipe card for Persian love cake at their place setting—a sweet way to share culture and love with everyone.
A Live Wedding Painter & Outfit Change Before the Party Started
Layla surprised Amin with something truly unforgettable: a live wedding painter to capture their ceremony in real-time. Since Amin is an artist, this thoughtful gift was not only incredibly meaningful but also fun for guests to witness. EJ worked her magic as guests watched the painting come to life.
After dinner and more dancing, Layla changed into a short, sparkly reception dress—perfect for the next round of celebration! DJ Paul LeBlanc took over the music duties, keeping the dance floor full well into the night.
Navigating the Weather & Capturing Culture
This wedding reminded us why adaptability is key. With unpredictable weather, changing light, and cultural traditions we hadn’t photographed before, we made sure every moment was beautifully captured—rain, wind, and all. It was such an honor to document Layla & Amin’s wedding with care and authenticity.
We first met Layla & Amin at the Capital Wedding Show, and from the very first conversation, it felt like reconnecting with old friends. Their warmth, creativity, and connection made this wedding one we’ll never forget.
